What is Summer Day Camp?

Summer Day Camp is a fun-filled camp for children who are entering K5 – 6th grade. Children can pick their camp (when you register online) from the following options: Painting, Soccer, Art Journaling, Basic Horsemanship, and LEGO Camp (all children entering Kindergarten will only be eligible for our brand new Kinder-camp). Summer Day Camp is designed for kids to engage in a specific activity that they enjoy and grow in their understanding and skill in it. The emphasis of Summer Day Camp is for kids to LOVE the activity they choose. In the afternoon, children will engage in more general camp activities, like crafts, games, music, and a Bible lesson.

What will my child be doing at Summer Day Camp?

Here is daily schedule:

8:30am – Drop off starts (doors open); children go to the camp that they signed up for

8:45am – Main Camps (Painting, Soccer, Art Journaling, LEGO, *Basic Horsemanship camps, and Kinder-camp)

* Basic Horsemanship camp gets dropped off directly on location (a farm ~2 miles from the church)

11:00am – Lunch (Provided by WCC) – consisting of fruit, vegetable, granola bar, fruit snacks, chips, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You can bring your own lunch if these options will not be sufficient for your child.

11:30pm – Crafts

12:00pm – Music Time

12:30pm – Bible lesson

1:00pm – Games

1:30pm – Pack up and Camp Recap

2:00pm – Pick-up

How much does Summer Day Camp cost?

Nothing! It is completely free! If you are the type of person that dislikes receiving something for free however, you can make a donation at www.wheatlandchurch.com/give if you would like. Please know that we do not expect or ask you to donate.

What will my child be learning/doing in the various camps?

Painting Camp (3rd – 6th grade) – This camp will teach students how to paint step-by-step and express their artistic side. With use of acrylic paints and canvases, each individual will be able to create beautiful projects and learn new skills along the way! Camp Leader = Leah Tilson

Soccer Camp (1st – 6th grade) – The kids will learn skills such as teamwork, dribbling, passing, and shooting while using a soccer ball. After learning the skills, we will have practices and play games to put these new skills to use. Camp Leader = Josh Petraitis 

Art Journaling Camp (1st – 6th grade) – Come explore the fun of creative journaling! Campers will learn hands-on about the art of bookbinding, tea-dying paper, paper printing, collage, and scrapbooking! We will get scrappy with creating artistic page layouts and decorating our journals with pictures, doodles, stickers, beads, stamping, and secret pockets!!! You won’t want to miss a moment of journaling with us about your awesome life!!! Camp Leaders = Elizabeth Shaff and Nicole Weigel 

LEGO Camp (3rd – 6th grade) – The kids will have competitive and free build time to both learn cooperation and teamwork as well as have fun working with LEGO bricks. We try our best to tailor the camp to the students LEGO interests. Camp Leader = Jeremiah Shaff

Basic Horsemanship Camp (3rd – 6th grade) – We will spend the morning on the ground learning about basic care of the horse including names of tack, grooming tools, horse specific anatomy and how to interact safely with horses. When on ground classes have finished kids will given the opportunity to have a pony ride and a demonstration/instruction for left and right steering, stop and go. Camp Leader = Jennifer Howard 

Kinder-Camp (Kindergarten) – Welcome to kinder-camp! We will have a music time with fun songs and dancing. We will do a craft everyday! There will be a bible lesson with coloring pages to build our personal story books! We will have snacks and lunch times with thoughtful discussions to improve on deep thinking, comprehension, and good question forming! We will have lots of outside time full of games, obstacle courses, and water play! Camp Leaders = Katie Scheel and Mary Tilson

What does my child need to bring?

***All campers should bring a bookbag, water bottle, and sun screen, if desired ***

If signing up for Painting Camp: Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on.

If signing up for Sports Camp: Bring a soccer ball each day (we have a few extra, but not enough for every child to have one). Shin guards are optional, but encouraged. 

If signing up for Art Journaling Camp: Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. Bring COPIES of a couple personal photos, stickers, and washi tape. Make sure anything you bring can be shared with the group. Do not bring original photos or anything too precious that will be missed if it gets lost or damaged. 

 If signing up for LEGO Camp: Nothing additional required/suggested. 

If Signing up for Basic Horsemanship Camp: Pants and closed-toed shoes are required! lease have this waiver form filled out for the camp: Basic Horsemanship Release Form

If signing up for Kinder-Camp: Nothing additional required/suggested.
